While living with the Mink Tribe, Sanji flirted with the mink women. He and his group then saw Pekoms and Capone Bege arrived at the island. Sanji then learned from Caesar that he was once asked to do some research for the Big Mom Pirates but did not hold up his end of the bargain. Sanji contemplated on handing Caesar over, but he and Brook decided to speak with them. Pekoms expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Sanji for saving his fellow minks and decided to spare the Straw Hats in exchange for Caesar.
Sanji's shock at having his true heritage exposed and learning he is about to be married.
Annoyed that Pekoms was letting his emotions get in the way of their mission, Bege shot Pekoms in the back. Bege then summoned his men from his body, captured Sanji's group and Caesar, and took them inside his body to speak to them in private. While talking to Sanji, Bege gave him an invitation to the Big Mom Pirates' wedding tea party. When Bege identified him as the third son of the Vinsmoke Family and indicated he would be marrying Purin, the 35th daughter of the Charlotte Family, Sanji fell into great shock, and his cigarette fell out of his mouth as his jaw dropped.
As the other Straw Hats reacted to the news, Sanji's lit cigarette ignited Bege's castle floor, alarming him. In a huff, Bege immediately stomped out the flames, yelling at Sanji for starting a fire in his castle. The crew remembered Sanji's mysterious comment that he was born in the North Blue, and Brook realized that the Red Line stood between it and East Blue, meaning Sanji had to cross the Red Line to enter the East Blue and embark on a long voyage. Caesar pointed out that Charlotte is Big Mom's last name, and if Sanji were to indeed marry into that family, the Straw Hats would become underlings of her crew by default. Sanji noted Luffy would not stand to become someone's underling because it would go against his dream of becoming the Pirate King. Sanji then questioned Bege about the arranged marriage and attempted to decline the invitation. Bege, not taking "no" for an answer, demonstrated that resistance was futile, showing that he can control everything in his body.
Vito, the Firetank Pirates' advisor, advised Sanji that there will be consequences for refusing Big Mom. He then whispered something into Sanji's ear and Sanji reacted with extreme distress. Sanji was left to wonder how Vito learned this information, and the nature of such was enough to make Sanji decide to be compliant with her invitation. After being given a pen and a paper, Sanji wrote a note and gave it to Nami, stating on it that he had to see a woman and would be back soon. He apologized to his crew, explaining it wasn't his intent to hide things from them, but he never expected to face this part of his past again, deciding to put an end to it alone. Sensing Nekomamushi nearby and choosing to resolve the marriage issue himself, he threw Nami, Chopper, and Brook out of Bege's body.
Sanji snatched a rifle from one of the Firetank Pirates and held Caesar at gunpoint to prevent Bege's crew from going after his comrades. Sanji assumed that the person who made the World Government wrote the "alive only" on his wanted poster was the one who arranged the marriage, and knew this situation meant the Firetank Pirates could not kill him. He agreed to go with them as long as they did not pursue his friends. Bege complied, noticing Nekomamushi's monstrous presence and that he was questioning the fact Pekoms had been shot up, and Bege did not feel confident about picking a fight with him. As Nami, Chopper, and Brook plead for Sanji to stay with them, Sanji promised that he would return before Bege fled with him and Caesar. Brook stopped Wanda and the other minks from taking chase, knowing Sanji didn't plan on refusing the invitation. His disheartened friends were now left with just a note which made light of the situation, and simply restated his promise to come back.
Whole Cake Island ArcEdit
On Big Mom's ship, Baron Tamago conversed with Sanji, insisting that he joined the Big Mom Pirates and Germa 66. Sanji declared that he cut ties with his family a long time ago and swore to only cook for his friends and not for a crew that was willing to discard one of their own. Vito then arrived with a picture of his bride-to-be and showed it to Sanji. When he saw that Purin is beautiful, Sanji became love-struck
