Shima was rather smart to rush things the way he did, had he not we'd have had an utterly awful conclusion yet instead we got a very lengthy and very suspenseful final fight between NEO and literally everyone. I'm very happy and very satisfied with this, and I think the spirit of what made this manga so great was accurately and thoroughly represented in the very end. I expected an open ended conclusion where no known threats are foreshadowed (meaning a carefree expedition into paradise), ever since the fights reached planet buster tier, and this was exactly the way to do it.
